We're still here....(day 7 pre-update)

Just want to let the faithful know that we are still alive.

Andrea has been very, very sick, and I've been trying to keep up with the boys. We have zoo pictures (sorry Amanda), and plenty of exciting tales to fill everyone in on.

So this post isn't just a placeholder....here are some fun parenting blunders we've had so far (note mostly Troy's...). Live and learn!

- we have both put glasses on the wrong twin
- One night when getting ready for bed I put bath gel on Samuel's toothbrush. He gave me the best, What the hell is this look.
- In the mall parking lot, after Luis his head on a car side mirror, I hurried to get him inside the car, and hit his head of the top of the car.
- I dressed everyone this morning. Luis Angel's shoes were on the wrong feet (hey, I just tie them), and Daniel's shirt is on backwards (after 10 minutes of fighting with him...it was "good enough")

The language gap is still huge. The twins speak baby spanish, and Samuel gets frustrated when we don't know his real Spanish. He has said, "black, Sylvia, Go, Diego, and Go,".

Okay, hopefully a big photo filled post after 9 when the gang goes to sleep.

Tomorrow is Intergration where we all meet with the Colombian psychologist, see how everyone is getting along, and become family more or less in the eyes of the Colombian government. This is @ 10am.

Thanks beyond words for all who read and comment. You are definately helping to keep our spirits up in a sometimes very tough time.

Much Love,
Troy

Hi Troy and Andrea, Becca was updating me on your story often and so before you embarked on the big trip she linked me your blog spot. I am so happy and hopeful for you all. I guess I've become a bit of a fan because I've got your page book marked and I check for updates each day. I can't imagine the adjustments and frustrations and all of the feelings you all must be going through. But your blogs bring me so many smiles and I am cheering all of you on from Japan (I'm living in Japan right now. I teach 530 kids english every week with very little competency either way...so i understand about communication barriers!). I'm sorry to hear Andrea is very sick. The typical South American visitor's illness? If so, oh, have I been there. I might have some suggestions on avoiding future bouts if you like, but maybe you already know? If I can every help in any way, my email is: jessicasmoker@gmail.com.
I wish the very best to all of you for bonding as a family, adjusting to all of the changes, and for just giving your sons a stable, loving, and supportive home.
very best,
Jessica

Hello there, this is Summer, I'm Stephanie Baughn's sister-in-law...I've heard lots about your family over the years so it is so fun to have this site to keep up on all the new parenting adventures. We are and will continue to pray for you two and your boys as you make this huge adjustment. Parenting is tough no matter how you find yourself there but man taking on the language barrier as well...wow I applaud you!
I can just picture your boys and Steph's boys raising raucous or as the Baughn boys say "havin' a rumpus". I hope they all get the chance to one day and maybe I could even throw my girls in the mix.
We wish you all the best.
If you want access to my blog that I keep private feel free to email me and I'll add you to the list:

Much love from Seattle,
Summer

Oh isn't parenthood fun, we have all put shoes on wrong feet, hit heads on door frames, and many other blunders. I had to laugh along with you. Andrea will be better soon, it's all so much, seems everyone gets sick within the first 2 weeks. We're behind you 100% back here in the states.

Hey Andrea and Troy,
Congratulations! It's been so great reading your blog, following the progress you are making. We are so happy for you and the boys. Some of your stories and comments are so funny, and others are so touching. Your pictures have been incredible. Isn't is wild and crazy how being a parent can take you from one extreme to another? There's absolutley nothing better!! I'm so sorry you are not feeling well Andrea. Siéntase mejor pronto Andrea! I do hope you are better today. Cherish the memories you are making in Colombia and takes tons of pictures. We'll see all five of you soon!

I love the kiddie pools in Colombia. I wish more places in the states had them. Fortunately we have them here in our neighborhood, but they are hard to find.

Sounds like things are going well. Little victories add up to big victories so celebrate them all. They are testing you...which means they are comfortable around you so thats a good thing. I am sure you are doing a great job.

I'm sorry that Andrea is sick. Do you think she picked up the parasite? When my brother in law visited us in Colombia, he picked it up after a few days. I know the medicine that you need..if you think that's it.

Glad everything seems to be going well. Tomorrow is no big deal..don't sweat it.

Troy and Andrea,
Keep it Up! Thinking back on my months living with Troy, I don't remember that he would put his shoes or shirts on straight very often. You will make great parents and your verbal praise of each other is cute to read!
Love,
James

Ashlar was famous for wearing his winter coats backwards for a while - a battle I stopped fighting, especially since the reactions I got from others was that it was just sooo cute! But, it did make putting up the hood a bit dangerous! And, all parents have struggled to get the kids to stay still long enough to put the shoes on...wrong feet who cares - love James' comment!! Ha Ha!

Andrea, sorry you aren't feeling well...David and I are soooo thrilled and send mucho love and kisses to all the Eisenberger clan! Love you all! Jen
