Update...Sort of

First off, thank you to everyone who has responded with suggestions to our doggie-dilema! We know that this situation will work itself out. Hopefully we will be able to find a house sitter. From what we are hearing that seems to be the ideal solution.

Now, for a little bit of news. We got an email from Sarah (our caseworker) today. She wanted to give us what little news they have, and that news is that according to our program director, ICBF (Colombian child services) is waiting for a specific sibling group to be legally released for adoption to match them with us. Our agency doesn't have any information on them and won't have any until an actual referral is made.

Please pray for us. Troy and I are used to getting our hopes up and then having huge disappointments follow soon after. We have grown so accustomed to believing that parenthood is this very unattainable state of life for us. Most importantly though, please pray for these children. Every day that the legal process delays their release to be adopted it also prevents them from being in the care of parents who love them--those parents are hopefully us! Also, as these children wait to be released for adoption they are either in an orphanage or in foster care. Please keep them in your prayers as they go through major life changes that they can't possibly understand at such young ages.

We will keep all of you posted as we find out more information!

Hey Andrea and Troy!

I am trying to fit in some time of reading other's blogs while running around like a nut in preparation for leaving on Saturday! LOL! This is a good break though!

We have 4 cats and a dog that a friend will be taking care of for us...actually, she is a single, post-college student from our church that is currently living with her parents while trying to settle into a job, etc. It was an ideal fit...perhaps, if you get a referral for the summer, you can connect with a college student who is home and simply doing a summer job, but looking for space from their parents...I am sure you know what I mean. We have shared with Amy that we want her to use our house like her own home...she is planning to have her small group over and to do some other things with friends here while we are gone. Bonus for her too!

I hope that suggestion helps! As for your children, we will be praying for them in the wait...as well as yourselves. May God bless you abundantly in this final leg of your wait! Oh my, I can't wait to see pics of your own children, and to, perhaps, meet up with you guys in Pereira! Who knows, it could still happen (or, maybe, in Bogota in passing!)

Andrea & Troy your time is coming! It's funny that what you said about disappointments. I was just telling my sister that they are finally on our month. She seriously asked me if this was really going to happen or were we being led on. I thought it was funny question. Of course it's going to happen! We just have to wait just a little bit longer than everyone else. Once you have your children, that "time" of not being a parent will be a distant memory. You will then be able to minister to those who may be in the same situation you once were in. I know that has happened to us.

Have faith...it's just around the corner! Praying these kiddos get released soon..to YOU!

Thats great news! ICBF is very good about trying to make the best match for families. A week or two or even 4 is not that great in the grand scheme of things and it will be here before you know it. I know that you want badly to hold and hung and take care of your children but they are in good hands now and are waiting for you.

I recommend a trip to the Colombian restaurant on South Blvd while you wait!

Hey Troy!

Next time you guys are up in PA visiting your sister or mom, we should all arrange to get together! Dave and I live right in Harrisburg (Allison Hill...It's really not as scary as everyone says it is! LOL!). You are right; it is such a small world! Pretty cool that we are adopting from the same city in Colombia as well!

We continue to pray for the legal process that will bring about the eligibility of your own childrens' adoption! I am sure you are well ready for that referral!

Hey... good news for you! Yeah! I can totally understand your hesitancy to let yourself get too excited, yet. Let's hope things move quickly now for everyone's sake and you can really start to celebrate!

As far as I go... if the translation is delayed more than 2 weeks I'll have to redo over half of my dossier again. hopefully, my caseworker can work a miracle and we can move forward now. I'll keep you posted.

I pray that your process is quick. May God grant you peace during this time. We went through a similar situation (waited 2 months because of the kids paperwork) but just received word they have been posted officially this week! I completely understand where you are at.
